BENSON -- Gretchen Joan Urke, 69, of Benson died Sunday at Meadow Lane Health Care Center in Benson.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Benson. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the church and for one hour prior to the service on Friday. Arrangements are with Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson.

She was born Jan. 24, 1937, in Benson to Walter and Myrtle (Aaberg) Lee. She grew up in Benson and graduated from Benson High School in 1955. She attended Minneapolis Clerical Business School.

She married Conrad Urke on July 4, 1958, in Morris. She was a homemaker and worked at Swift County Bank, Meadow Lane Health Care Center, and the Benson Elementary School.

She was a member of Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Benson, where she served as Sunday school and vacation Bible school teacher, on church council and was a choir member. She also was a WELCA leader, attended Women's Bible Study, and was a VFW Auxiliary member. She was a member of the Octachords and Sing Four Joy for 25 years.

She is survived by her husband; children: Julie Urke of Benson, David (and Lori) Urke of Northfield, Diane Urke of Lakeville, Janel (and Apham) Nnaji of Lakeville, Brent (and Jill) Urke of Alexandria; 10 grandchildren; and one brother: Robert (and Carol) Lee of Spicer.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
