MONTEVIDEO -- Tyler Grey hit the first homer of his career at a key time and Montevideo went on to edge Cottonwood 4-3 in Montevideo on Monday.

Grey tied into a Tyler Peterson offering and sent it down the third-base line and over the 10-foot fence at Montevideo's park. With Josh Anderson, who had singled, scoring in front, Grey's run tied the game 3-3 in the bottom of the fourth.

Cottonwood came right back with a run in the top of the fifth on an RBI single by Peterson.

Montevideo answered when Cam Vien walked, stole second and churned home on Grant Kaihoi's grounder to second which turned into a two-base error.

Mitch Christensen got the win taking over for starter John Schmidt with one out in the first. Schmidt had to leave the game after he was hit in his throwing hand by a line drive. X-rays showed no broken bone, according to his coach Tim Epema.
