RENVILLE - Megan Groen, a 5-9 sophomore guard, had her third straight double-double as Renville County West whipped Yellow Medicine East 50-34 Saturday in the championship of the Old Two Twelve Conference Holiday Basketball Tournament.
Groen had 61 points and 30 rebounds in the three games.
RCW (5-2) led only 18-17 at halftime against previously unbeaten YMW (5-1). But Jen Hamre connected on a pair of early second-half three-pointers and the Jaguars never let up, outscoring the Sting 32-17 in the second half.
Sally smith added 10 points and Hamre eight for RCW.
YME was led by Audrey Formo with 11 points.

MONTEVIDEO - Ortonville held on after nearly squandering an eight-point lead at halftime to upend Montevideo 68-59 in the championship game of the Montevideo Invite Saturday.

The Trojans had a two-point lead with a minute remaining before scoring their last seven points at the free-throw line.
Brook Moseng had 19 points and Kara Nelson followed with 13 while also accumulating five assists and four steals for the Thunder Hawks (2-4).
