LITCHFIELD, Minn. (AP) - The groundbreaking is scheduled at 2 p.m. today for an expansion at Meeker County Memorial Hospital in Litchfield.
Construction begins this month on a $26.5 million dollar addition to the west side of the hospital.
Hospital administrator Mike Schramm says the first phase of the project includes the 75,000 square-foot addition. He says it will improve patient services by locating related departments together.
Phase One will be completed around the spring of 2009. Phases Two and Three will include the remodeling of space in the existing hospital.
The ground breaking will be at the west side of the current hospital.
