OLIVIA - The RC Hospital and Clinics will host a groundbreaking ceremony at 2 p.m. today to mark the start of construction on a new hospital and health care facility on Olivia’s eastern edge.
The $24 million facility will be constructed on a 26-acre campus with a street address of 100 Healthy Way.
A 62,000-square-foot building will hold 16 inpatient beds and lab radiology and therapy, outpatient and specialty clinics, two operating rooms and an education center.
A new clinic will offer 15 examination rooms and one procedure room.
The new facility will also feature a main access point for all users.
The Renville County-owned hospital obtained low-interest financing for the project from the United States Department of Agriculture, Rural Development as well as through a financing agreement with AgStar Financial Services.
The health care facility will replace a landlocked campus in Olivia originally constructed in 1951.
The hospital is aiming for an October 2015 completion.
