BELGRADE -- Gusta Eleanora Sonstegard, 97, of Belgrade died Monday at the Belgrade Nursing Home.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Crow River Lutheran Church in rural Belgrade. Burial will be at the chruch cemetery.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade.

She was born Sept. 25, 1909, in Kandiyohi County to Anton and Inga (Lueken) Thorson. She attended Golden Rod School in District 44, and the West Central School of Agriculture in Morris.

She married Archie Sonstegard on May 4, 1941, near Belgrade. They lived in Minneapolis and New London for a number of years and then moved to Belgrade.

She taught Sunday School at both Vinje Lutheran and Crow River Lutheran churches. She was a member of the church women E.L.C.W. and also served on the Altar Guild. She was a member of the Golden Rod 4-H Club and served as a leader of the North Star 4-H Club.

She is survived by two sons: Richard (and Diane) of Howard Lake, Arvid (and Cathy) of Kissimmee, Fla.; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; and four siblings: Anna Corgard of Blaine, Madeline Kosander of Minneapolis, Viola (and Curtis) Town of Minneapolis, and Rueben (and Rita) Thorson of Plainfield, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter: Inez; one grandson; three brothers and three sisters.
