BRAINERD -- Annalise Bratt finished third in all-around for Willmar as the Cardinals opened their season by falling 139.65-130 to Central Lakes Conference rival Brainerd Thursday.
"I didn't think we'd get 130, but I was hoping we would," said Willmar coach Larry Selchow. "We performed better than I thought we would. I was thinking 128 or 129, so to break 130 right off the bat is a good start. I'm excited."
Bratt compiled an all-around score of 34.0 behind second-place finishes on the bars (8.55) and beam (8.2). The junior also placed fifth on the floor exercise and seventh on the vault.
Willmar also had junior Bethany Pollack finish fifth in all-around.
The Cardinals return to action Tuesday when they host St. Cloud Tech at 7 p.m. in another Central Lakes Conference dual.
