WILLMAR -- Storms that moved through Minnesota on Wednesday morning brought reports of hail and heavy rain in the region.
According to a summary of reports to the National Weather Service Twin Cities office in Chanhassen, there were several reports of hail in Renville County in the Hector, Buffalo Lake and Stewart areas.
There were reports of pea-sized hail, stretching up to 2 inches long and elliptical in shape, at Hector, and hail of three-quarters of an inch in diameter or larger was reported northeast of Buffalo Lake and northwest of Hector.
Half-inch hail was reported northwest of Stewart by a trained spotter who noted piles of hail 1 to 2 inches deep and minor crop damage in nearby cornfields, the Weather Service summary said. And 2 inches of rain in three hours was reported northwest of Stewart.
The summary said there was street flooding reported in Starbuck and Glenwood in Pope County, and hail was reported in some locations in Pope and Stevens counties as well.
In Kandiyohi County, there was a report of 2.2 inches of rain in three hours in southwest of Prinsburg.
