YMOND -- Kameron Dean Hanson will receive his Eagle Scout award at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City. The Eagle Scout rank is the highest honor awarded by the Boy Scouts. To earn it, the scout must earn 21 merit badges and plan, develop and give leadership to others in a service project that is beneficial to the community, church or school.
Hanson, a senior at MACCRAY High School in Clara City, built 60 replacement keyboard covers for the MACCRAY Elementary school computer labs. The covers are used to screen the students from watching their fingers as they learn typing skills. The old covers were made of cardboard and had become flimsy and ruined over time and were no longer manufactured. He received funding for the covers from the Raymond Lions club.
He is a member of Troop 269 and has served as patrol leader and senior patrol leader. He is also a member of the Order of the Arrow.
He is the son of Dean and Joni Hanson of Raymond. Everyone is welcome to attend the ceremony.
