WILLMAR -- Harlan "Jerome" Skaalerud, 72, of Willmar died Tuesday at the Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake in rural New London. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Willmar V.F.W Post 1639.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
He was born April 21, 1933, in Arctander Township, Kandiyohi County, to Harry and Luella (Bendickson) Skaalerud. He grew up in that area and received his education in the rural and New London school districts. He served in the U.S. Army for three years during the Korean War.

He married Dorothy Noor on May 8, 1955. They lived in the Willmar area until 1960, when they moved to Hopkins. They moved to the New London area in 1972, and then to Willmar in 1990. He worked as an over the road truck driver for most of his life.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake and the Willmar VFW.
He is survived by his wife; children: Bryan Skaalerud of Willmar, Edwin Skaalerud of Minneapolis, Mari Jo (and Paul) Stortroen of Willmar, Heidi (and Dean) Peterson of Pennock; five grandchildren; and siblings: James (and Kathleen) Skaalerud of Alexandria, David (and Susan) Skaalerud of Nisswa, Lorraine Ervia of Waseca, Alice (and Howard) Akenson of Minnetonka, Louise (and Thomes) Greenwood of Eden Prairie and Caren (and Clarence) Carlson of Alt, Colo.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter; one brother and three sisters.
