MORRIS -- Harold Carl Hruby, 96, of Morris died Sunday at West Wind Village in Morris.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Morris. Burial will be at Summit Cemetery in Morris.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 6 p.m., at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to the service at the church.

He was born May 14, 1911, in Morris to Ed and Clara (Hilker) Hruby. He grew up on a farm on Yankee Ridge Road. He attended Morris High School and the West Central School of Agriculture. He served in the Minnesota National Guard.

He married Emelia Mickelson on April 4, 1937, south of Cyrus. They lived in Morris. He worked for North American Creameries, Richard Produce and he owned and operated the Sugar Bowl Restaurant. Then he worked for 25 years at the Morris School District as a custodian and bus driver. Then he sold memorial monuments and worked at Engebretson Sanitary Landfill. Two years ago, he moved to West Wind Village in Morris.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Morris, where he was usher. He was a member of the men's club, the Morris Fireman Department for 30 years, a lifetime member of the Morris Eagles and he served as president of the Morris Eagles Baseball Club.

He is survived by his children: James (and Jane) Hruby of St. Cloud and LeAnn (and Craig) Erickson of Middlebury, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers and three sisters.
