WILLMAR -- Harold Eugene Evenson, 74, of Sioux Falls, S.D., formerly of Willmar, died Tuesday at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls.

The service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Willmar.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

He was born July 7, 1931, in Willmar to Herman and Annie (Rude) Evenson. He grew up in the Willmar community and attended Willmar schools. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1964 and served in the Korean Conflict.

He married Mary Jacobson on June 15, 1978, in Sisseton, S.D. They lived in Willmar. He worked at Jennie-O Foods and later managed the Elm Lane Trailer Court. They moved to Windom in 1989 and he worked at Caldwells. He retired in 1993. He moved to Sioux Falls, S.D., in 2004.

He was a former member of Calvary Lutheran Church and a member of the American Legion, the V.F.W. and the Fraternal Order of Eagles 2334 for many years.

He is survived by his children: Kathy (and Fred) Evenson of Pine City, Harold Jr. (and Sheri) Evenson of Robbinsdale, Ryan Evenson of Sioux Falls, S.D., Kelli (and Jason) Black of Silt, Colo., Derrick (and Stacia) Evenson of Windom; 10 grandchildren; and siblings: Jon (and Anne) Evenson of Dell City, Okla., and Shirley Layman of Willmar.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 2004; one daughter: Barb Ashing; and one sister.
