WOODBURN, Ore. -- Harold Raymond Christensen, 72, of Woodburn, Ore., died Jan. 15.
He was born June 10, 1935, in Harrison, S.D., to Harvin and Sigrid (Larsen) Christensen. He lived in the New London area, where he attended District 25 School. He graduated high school in Woodburn, Ore., in 1953. He attended Lutheran Bible Institute of Seattle, Pacific Lutheran College and Seattle Pacific College. He graduated from Whitworth College.
He married Evelyn Benner on June 13, 1959, in Olympia, Wash. He became a radio broadcaster for KGD and KTW in Seattle. He moved to Spokane and graduated from Whitworth while working at KCFA. He was a broadcaster in the United States Army and earned the rank of sergeant. He managed radio station KHRT in Minot, N.D., from 1965 to 1985. He served as state senator in North Dakota. In 1985, he was called to Nanuet, N.Y., to be pastor of the Nanuet Lutheran Brethren Church. He retired in June 2000 and moved to Woodburn.
He was on the national Church Synodical Council.

He is survived by his wife; daughter: Julie of Rapid City, S.D.; son: Curt of Woodburn; one granddaughter; sisters: Helen Johnson of Woodburn, Grace Ashland Burr of Woodburn, Jeanette Onerheim of Saskatchewan, Canada, Ruth Bleasner of Spokane and Mesa, Wash., Blanche Rasmussan of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Dorothy Thompson of Mesa, Wash.; brothers: Harvey of Woodburn and Martin of Frontier, Saskatchewan, Canada.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
