MORRIS -- Harvey Alvin Mathison, 80, of Morris died Wednesday at the Courage Cottage in Morris.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris. Burial will be at Frog Lake Cemetery, rural Alberta. Military honors will be provided by the Morris American Legion, VFW and Am-Vets.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 7, at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
He was born Feb. 2, 1927, in Synnes Township, Stevens County, to Thore and Emma (Erickson) Mathison. He grew up in the Alberta area and attended District 24 county school through the seventh grade. In 1945, he graduated from Alberta High School. He served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953.

He married Florence Helberg March 5, 1955, rural Kensington. They moved to Scott Township in Stevens County, where they farmed. He was also a seed distributor for Asgrow Seed for more than 30 years. They retired from farming in 1995 and moved into Morris in 1997.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Alberta, the Alberta Wildlife Federation, and a charter member of the Alberta Area Improvement Corporation. He was also a member of American Legion Post 29; where he was commander from 1973 to 1974. He was a Scott 4-H Club Leader. From 1975 to 2005, he served on the Stevens County Fair Board where he was swine superintendent. He also served as supervisor on the Scott Township Board for 23 years and Frog Lake Cemetery Board for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife; daughter: Vicky Dosdall (and special friend, Dean Struck) of Morris; twin grandsons; three brothers: Merle Mathison of Lakeshore, Glen Mathison of Annandale and Delroy (and Liz) Mathison of Detroit Lakes; and one sister: Evelyn Raasch of Morris.
