RICHMOND -- A 60-year-old Hawick man is in critical condition after a broadside car accident on state Highway 23 east of Richmond.
Leon D. Peterson was admitted into St. Cloud Hospital Monday afternoon after crashing his 1992 Dodge Caravan into the broadside of a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo around 2:13 p.m. at the intersection of state Highway 23 and Stearns County Road 71.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol report, Peterson was heading westbound on state Highway 23 when he tried to make a left turn onto County Road 71 and broadsided the Monte Carlo going eastbound on state Highway 23. The driver, Donald J. Goreham, 77, of Aitkin, was reported as having a non-life threatening injury and was admitted to St. Cloud Hospital.
No other law agencies assisted the State Patrol with the accident.
