WILLMAR - The public is invited to hear stories of immigrants to Minnesota at an event Thursday evening.
An Evening of Stories, Green Card Voices on Minnesota Immigrant Stories will begin with a reception at 5 p.m. Thursday at The Goodness coffee house parking lot in downtown Willmar. Free ethnic snacks and lemonade will be available. Speakers will begin at 5:30.
Organizers urge people to arrive early and to bring their own lawn chairs.
The evening is intended to help people in Willmar learn more about their neighbors in the community to hear stories of immigration, cultural backgrounds and the bonds shared by longtime and new residents of the area.
An Evening of Stories is made possible by Vision 20/40 Willmar Lakes Area, a collaborative effort working towards achieving four goals in the Willmar Lakes area: attract and retain newcomers to the area, strengthen economic diversity, develop more things to do and develop next generation leaders.
