It is snowing heavily now in west central Minnesota, making driving conditions difficult.

Heavy snow is reducing visibility and covering the roadways, though snowplows are running.

The state Department of Transportation describes driving conditions as difficult throughout western Minnesota and most of the rest of the state.

A winter weather advisory is in effect through this evening for portions of west central and south central Minnesota, including Willmar. The National Weather Service says snow is expected to persist through this evening northwest of a line from Montevideo to Little Falls. Three to seven inches is expected by late this evening, particularly in the area from Morris to Alexandria.

Poor visibilities will continue tonight as northwest winds move in later this afternoon and work eastward.
