BENSON -- Helen Jean Saulsbury, 87, of Benson died Friday at Meadow Lane Health Care Center in Benson.

The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Benson. Burial will be in Benson City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church and one hour before the service Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are by Zniewski Funeral Home of Benson.

She was born May 7, 1921, in Big Stone County to William and Mabel (Weeding) Guse. She grew up and attended grade school in rural Big Stone County.

On Dec. 14, 1938, she married Herbert Saulsbury in Milbank, S.D. They lived in the Clinton and Ortonville areas, and they farmed near Clinton. They moved to Benson in 1954. She worked for the Meadow Lane Health Care Center for 32 years.

She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, where she was active in Ladies Aid.

She is survived by three daughters: Darlene (and Charles) Wilts of Benson, Sharon (and Leroy) Sanders of Benson, and Lyn Saulsbury of Willmar; one son: Harlan (and Sue) Saulsbury of Murdock; one son-in-law: Kenneth Schmidtke of Montevideo; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; two stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and a brother: Bud (and Dorothy) Guse of Wyoming.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Faye Schmidtke; two grandsons; four brothers; and four sisters.
