Henry L. Ruter

LONG PRAIRIE -- Henry L. Ruter, 93, of Sauk Centre, formerly of Renville County and Long Prairie, died Monday at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Long Prairie. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Long Prairie.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Stein-Dingmann Funeral Home in Long Prairie and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

He was born June 20, 1912, in Sacred Heart Township, Renville County, to Lucas and Wiekie (Devries) Ruter.
He married Agnes Oslund on Dec. 8, 1940, in Minneapolis. He worked for McDonald Douglas in Los Angeles, moved to Kansas City, Kan., and then to Fort Cook, Neb. He moved to Renville County in 1944. He moved to Reynolds Township, rural Long Prairie, and farmed until he retired in 1974.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Long Prairie.
He is survived by his children: Lorraine Rudenick of San Bernardino, Calif., Jim (and Kay) of Renville, Jerry (and Eva) of Swanville, John (and Linda) of Eagle Bend, Ted of Alexandria, David of Dayton, Texas; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Ella Geyer of Las Vegas, Nev., Ann Knutson of St. Paul, Vivian Ruter of Spicer, George of Belgrade and Clause of Paynesville.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Jan. 3, 1979; daughter: Deanne Cummings, son: Kenneth; two grandchildren; and seven siblings.
