MONTEVIDEO -- Henry "Hank" William Nicklasson, 92, of Montevideo, died Tuesday at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 22 at Bergen Lutheran Church in Stony Run Township. Burial will be in Bergan Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
He was born July 1, 1914, in Winnepeg, Manitoba, to Ernst and Henny (Nilsson) Nicklasson. He graduate from Westbrook High School in 1932 and St. Olaf College, as a three-sport honor athlete, in 1936. He began his teaching and coaching career in Milan. In 1939, he married Phyllis Jenson. He continued his career in Sleepy Eye and New Ulm. In 1944, he played AA baseball for the Minneapolis Millers. After a career-ending baseball injury, he taught in New Ulm four years and then founded Nicklasson Athletic Company. In 1967, he married Jean (Wilson) Beeman and they lived in Montevideo. He was inducted into the Minnesota Baseball Hall of Fame in 1964 and the St. Olaf Athletic Hall of Fame in 1983.

He is survived by his wife, Jean of Montevideo; and his brother, Clarence (and Vi) of Buffalo Lake.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis in 1964, son, David in 1989; four brothers and two sisters.
