Henry P. Sunde April 26, 1906 - April 17, 2008

PAYNESVLLE -- Henry Palmer Sunde, 102, of Paynesville died Saturday at the Koronis Manor. The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Nordland Lutheran Church in rural Hawick. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8...

PAYNESVLLE -- Henry Palmer Sunde, 102, of Paynesville died Saturday at the Koronis Manor.

The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Nordland Lutheran Church in rural Hawick. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home in Paynesville and one hour prior to the service at the church.

He was born on April 26, 1906, in Roseville Township, Kandiyohi County, to Edvard and Kari Sunde. He attended school through eighth grade at District 97. He farmed for more than 60 years.

He married Edna (Pemble) McLouth on June 1, 1974, in Hawick. He moved to Hawick. He retired in the 1980s. Then he helped Edna with her candle business. They moved to Stearns Place in Paynesville in 1994. Edna died in 2003. Then he lived at Washburne Court from 2004 until he entered Koronis Manor in 2006.

He was a lifelong member of Nordland Lutheran Church, rural Paynesville, where he sang in choir, mowed the lawns and cemetery. He volunteered by cutting blocks and rags that the Nordland women made into mission quilts. He also stitched quilts which were donated to the Nordland Mission Fest. He was also treasurer of Roseville Township for several years.

He is survived by 14 nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife and nine siblings.
