Herbert T. Gjerdingen
March 25, 1915 - April 8, 2006
GLENWOOD -- Herbert Tilford Gjerdingen, 91, formerly of Starbuck, died Saturday at Camilia Rose Home in Coon Rapids.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Lutheran Church in Glenwood. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Hoplin Funeral Home in Glenwood.

He was born March 25, 1915, on the family farm in Langhei Township, Pope County, to Edwin and Alma (Anondson) Gjerdingen. He attended country school and farmed with his father for several years.
He married Evelyn Strand in 1943 in Glenwood. They lived in the Glenwood and Starbuck areas. They moved to Minneapolis in the early 1950s. There he worked for Alumacraft Boat Company for 13 years, and later as a custodian and bus driver for the Bloomington School District. He retired in 1978. They moved to Starbuck in 1981, and then to Coon Rapids in 1997. Evelyn died in 1999. He returned to Starbuck and Glenwood until 2005, when he moved to Blaine.
He is survived by his children: Paulette (and Steve) Hanson of Blaine, Mary Ellen (and Steve) Andersen of Las Cruces, N.M., Donald (and Kendra) Gjerdingen of Bloomington, Ind.; five grandchildren; and siblings: Erwin (and Margaret) of Benson, Gerald of Bloomington, Minn., and Orla Dokken of Richfield.
He was preceded in death by his wife and an infant sister.
