NORTH KINGSTON -- Herbert William Hess, 93, of North Kingston died Saturday at the Lakeside Health Care Center in Dassel.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Kingston. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel and for one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.

He was born Nov. 27, 1913, in Middleville Township, north of Howard Lake in Wright County, to Alex and Emma (Anderson) Hess. He attended the Highland country school. In 1933 they moved to South Kingston Township, Meeker County, where they farmed.
He married Lillian Marie Leppa on Jan. 29, 1938, in Kingston. They had a crop and dairy farming operation in Kingston and North Kingston townships, Meeker County. For a short time they rented a farm on the south edge of Kimball. They retired in 1969, but remained on the farm. Lillian died Jan. 2, 2000. Herbert moved to the Dassel Lakeside Home in 2006.
He bowled with the Senior Citizen leagues in Kimball.
He is survived by his children: Joyce (and Rudy) Burgstaler of Kimball, Rodney (and Loreen) Hess of Kimball, Robert (and Barbara) Hess of Kimball, JoAnne (and Mel) Terning of Cokato; grandchildren; stepgrandchildren; great-grandchildren; and stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and brothers and sisters.
