WILLMAR - Motorists on state Highway 55 between state Highway 4 east of Paynesville and state Highway 22 in Eden Valley may encounter minor delays when a resurfacing project begins Monday, the Minnesota Department of Transportation announced Thursday in a news release. Crews will also install turn lanes in several locations.
During this work, flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone. Travelers are urged to slow down and be prepared to stop in the area where crews are working.
The work will require a detour beginning in mid-September. Additional information will be released prior to the detour being established, MnDOT said in the release.
Knife River Corporation of Sauk Rapids is the contractor for the $2,357,433 project, which is scheduled for completion in late October, weather permitting.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, and reminds them to slow down in the work zone and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
