Highway 7/ Highway 59 bridge to open

WILLMAR - The new Highway 7/59 bridge over the Chippewa River in Montevideo will be open for traffic this afternoon, weather permitting, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, Willmar.
The district office reports that the detour for motorists traveling on Highway 7 and Highway 59 near Montevideo will be removed and the road open to traffic by late afternoon.
Work on the $2.3 million project began in early February and was completed on time, despite extreme winter weather conditions and recent high water under the bridge. Once floodwaters recede, crews will complete seeding around the bridge.  This work will be conducted off-road and will not affect traffic.
