WILLMAR -- Some work will continue in the weeks ahead, but Minnesota Highway 7 will re-open Friday between Montevideo and Clara City, the Minnesota Department of Transportation announced Tuesday.
Motorists will encounter some minor delays, including one-lane restrictions, as crews continue to test the pavement and perform final clean up work along the project, the department stated.
Work on the 15-mile project began May 11 and it was originally scheduled to re-open on Aug. 28. However, the discovery of the imperfections in the concrete led MnDOT to use a sophisticated, ground penetrating radar system to locate the anomalies.
The imperfections in the new concrete pavement could potentially reduce the durability of the surface. Mn/DOT is using a sophisticated ground penetrating radar system to locate the anomalies.
