WILLMAR -- The Willmar Hockey Association has a deal for you.
As part of an ongoing effort to make the expense of indoor hockey less of a financial burden, the WHA is marketing a gift card with no catches. Greg Swenson, a board member, explained it this way:
For a $30 donation, the buyer receives access to a national gas-refund program. For every $100 worth of gas receipts per month, you receive a $25 gift card. It can be applied at the local or at a national fuel brand you designate. It can be applied to any pump gas, plus propane. The gift card can be used also for retail product at the selected outlet.
Fuel receipts must be saved and sent to the Free Fuel Center office in Arizona. In return, you will receive a $25 gift card or pre-loaded Visa card. This can be done for up to 12 months.
In return, the gas station/convenience store gains a customer's loyalty for 12 months at no risk. The gift card suppliers cover their expenses from national advertising.

Swenson further explained that young skaters can cover their dues through the fundraiser, which has also been used by student/athletes at Montevideo High School this fall.
Financial aid is also available through the Blue Line Club, which raises money through its annual auction. The WHA also continues to build up its equipment inventory for entry-level skaters. It also helps fund uniform purchases for all age levels.
The all-volunteer WHA oversees Mites, Squirts, PeeWee and Bantams. The girls program has both a 10U and 12U team.
