WILLMAR -- Rice Memorial Hospital's board of directors is expected to name Dale Hustedt today as interim chief executive.
Hustedt's appointment has been recommended by the hospital board's human resources committee.
The interim chief executive officer will lead the city-owned hospital for the next six to 18 months, while a search takes place for a new, permanent CEO to replace Lorry Massa. Massa, who has been Rice's chief executive since the beginning of 1994, was named in July as the new executive director of the Minnesota Hospital Association. His last day at Rice Hospital is Friday.
Hustedt has been with Rice for the past decade. He currently serves as the associate administrator for facility and human resources.
Citing a need for continuity, the hospital board chose to seek an interim CEO from within the hospital's, rather than hiring someone from outside the hospital.

The board also will announce the three finalists Wednesday for executive search consultants.
Twelve proposals were submitted from consultants and search firms that specialize in CEO recruitment. These have been narrowed to six semifinalists, whose proposals will be reviewed Wednesday by the board.
