WILLMAR -- Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures Monday as crews begin a resurfacing project on Highway 23, from Kandiyohi County Road 31 north to Kandiyohi County Road 6.

According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, flaggers and a pilot car will direct motorists through the work zone, as traffic will not be detoured for the project.

If motorists enter a roadway from an access road, they must wait for the pilot car and vehicles to pass before entering the lane and must travel in the same direction as the pilot car.

This project is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Nearly 100 Minnesota road and bridge projects are funded this year with $502 million in stimulus money.
