WILLMAR - An inmate at the Kandiyohi County Jail died after being found unresponsive Sunday afternoon.
Kandiyohi County Sheriff Dan Hartog said correctional officers were conducting checks of the inmates when they discovered the man shortly before 1:30 p.m. He was not breathing so correctional officers immediately began lifesaving measures, Hartog said.
The Willmar Ambulance Service also was called but paramedics were unable to revive the inmate. He was pronounced dead at the jail, Hartog said.
The man's identity has not been released pending notification of relatives.
The Willmar Police Department assisted the Sheriff's Office and ambulance personnel at the scene.
