DONNELLY -- Ira Donald "Bud" Banister, 81, of Donnelly died Saturday at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris.

The service will be at 11 a.m. today at Kongsvinger Lutheran Church, rural Donnelly. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service today at the church.

He was born Aug. 13, 1926, in Scott Township, Stevens County, to Roy and Josie (Jenson) Banister. He went to school at Rural District Schools 4 and 5.

He married Julette Henrichs on Sept. 22, 1951. He worked for Morris Oil and for Culligan for 14 years. He then went to work for the Stevens County Highway Department for 25 years. Then he worked for Eystad Trucking, New Horizons Elevator in Donnelly and for the Donnelly Co-op Fertilizer Plant.

He was a member of Kongsvinger Lutheran Church, where he served as a church council member and as an usher.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters: Diane (and Glenn) Amundson of Donnelly and Debra (and Robert) Touhey of Chaska; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; four sisters: Hazel Olson, Grace (and Earl) Steuck, Vivian Bjorlin, and Jeanette (and Verdi) Schmitz, all of Chokio.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
