CLARA CITY -- Irene Barney, 95, of Clara City died Sunday at the Clara City Care Center.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Harvey Anderson Clara City Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
She was born Nov. 17, 1909, in Lone Tree Township, Chippewa County, to Henry and Anna (Frikke) Sweep. She attended country school.

She married Herman Barney on July 19, 1929, in Chippewa County. They lived in the Clara City area and she worked at the Yock-Meyer Department Store and as a cook for the Clara City Public Schools. She moved to the Clara City Care Center in 2000.
She was a member of Bethany Reformed Church and active as a Sunday school teacher and Bible study leader.
She is survived by her son: Glenn (and Barb) Barney of Willmar; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and brothers: John Sweep of Clara City, Alvin Sweep of Kerkhoven, Theodore Sweep of Clarissa and Verlin Sweep of Willmar.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1965; one sister and four brothers.
