DAWSON -- Irid Evelyn Ronken, 94, died Saturday at the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson.

The service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Providence Valley Lutheran Church in rural Dawson. Burial will be in church cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

She was born Feb. 20, 1911, in Providence Township near Dawson to John and Minnie (Peterson) Peterson. She graduated from Dawson High School, received her teacher's training in Canby and taught several years in rural Minnesota.

She married Philip Ronken on April 15, 1934. They farmed near Carthage, S.D. After retiring from Rosevelt Lake Resort in Arizona, and the death of Philip on July 21, 1987, she returned to Dawson to the Riverside Apartments. She entered the Johnson Memorial Home on April 5 and remained there until her.

She was very active in church activities throughout her life, including Luther League and teaching Sunday school and vacation Bible school. She was a member of the ladies aide and Women's Missionary Society at the time of her death.

She is survived by her children: Phyllis Fisher of Dawson, Janice (John) Bodnar of Big Lake, Sheryl Reasland of Zimmerman and Donald Ronken of Minneapolis; nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; brother: Virgil Peterson, and sister: Verna Windingstad of Dawson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers; son-in-law: Larry Fisher; and one grandson.
