Irving Hemingson

January 5, 1915 - August 16, 2006 ST. PAUL -- Irving Lyle Hemingson, 91, formerly of Granite Falls, died Wednesday at Our Lady of Good Council Care Facility in St. Paul. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 19 at Granite Falls Lutheran Church.

ST. PAUL -- Irving Lyle Hemingson, 91, formerly of Granite Falls, died Wednesday at Our Lady of Good Council Care Facility in St. Paul.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 19 at Granite Falls Lutheran Church.

Visitation with the family begins one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral arrangements are with Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Granite Falls.

He was born January 5, 1915 in Allison, Iowa, to John and Margaret (Kramer) Hemingson. He moved with his family to Granite Falls. He attended public school through the 8th grade in Granite Falls and worked in the WPA program.

In May 1938, Irving married Dorothy Kortgard. They made their home in the Minneapolis area from 1941 to 1945, when they returned to Granite Falls. Irving was a car dealer for Ford Motor Company in Granite Falls for many years. He was a member of Granite Falls Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his children, Lyle (and Nancy) Hemingson of Burnsville; Donna (and James) Clairmont of Ham Lake and Joyce (and Richard) Peake of Arden Hills; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Hemingson of Granite Falls; one sister, Irene (and Dale) Anderson of Janesville, Wis.; 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, Larry in 1992, and two brothers.
