An excavator rips apart the sanctuary of the Willmar Christian Reformed Church in the 1700 block of 8th Street Southwest Monday morning. The congregation is meeting in the adjoining Fellowship Hall for now. A new sanctuary and educational wing will replace a 50-year-old structure that had restricted access for the disabled and older church members. The new building will also provide improved handicap accessibility for the church’s friendship ministry. Vreeman Construction is the contractor. Work is projected to take five months.
