BENSON -- James Allen Thole, 58, of Benson died Sunday at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in DeGraff. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson, with a parish prayer service at 6 p.m., and for one hour prior to the service at the church.

He was born Jan. 23, 1948, in Benson to Lawrence and Ardena (VanderWeyst) Thole. He grew up on a farm near Swift Falls and attended grade school there. He graduated from Benson High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1969, serving 13 months in Vietnam.

He was married in May of 1968 in Benson. He worked at Lorenz Manufacturing in Benson, Swift Manufacturing in Murdock, Mid Am Creamery in Paynesville and Harley-Davidson in St. Cloud. He suffered a brain injury in an accident in 1981 and moved to Lakeview Healthcare Center in Glenwood in 1989.

He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion in St. Cloud.

He is survived by his children: Guy Thole of Morris, Rita Thole of Baudette, Lea Dingman of Olivet, S.D., Gabe Thole of Grove City, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and his siblings: Patricia (and Joe) Wesley of Hutchinson, Michael Thole of Benson, Leo Thole of Brooklyn Park, Larry Thole of Elk River, Terry Thole of Kerkhoven, and Mary (and Wayne) Maus of Benson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, one in infancy.
