CLARA CITY -- James Edward Essendrup Sr., 78, of Clara City, died Friday at Clara City Care Center.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Clara's Catholic Church in Clara City. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Harvey Anderson Clara City Funeral Home and continues for one hour prior to the service at the church.

He was born May 17, 1929, in DeGraff to Raymond and Pearl (Christianson) Essendrup.

He lived on a farm in Raymond and attended District 48 elementary school.

He married Margaret Schroeder on Oct. 11, 1958, in Raymond. They farmed in Raymond. He worked for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway and later worked in construction. In 1998 they moved to Clara City.

He was a member of St. Clara's Catholic Church in Clara City.

He is survived by his wife; children: Lori (and Gary) Kruger, Cindy (and Mark) Plowman, James Jr. (and LeAnn) Essendrup, all of Clara City; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson; brothers: Jerry Essendrup of Willmar; Marlin Essendrup of Michigan, Ervin (and Alice) Essendrup of Willmar, Ray Jr. (and Eileen) Essendrup of Hamel; sisters: Colleen Newland of Eden Prairie, Bonnie (and Dale) Hanson of Willmar, Verna (and Richard) Aeikens of Clara City, Dorothy (and Bob) Fransen of Willmar, Adeline Steffens of Minnetonka, Arlene Beers of Hopkins, and Lorraine Bohlsen of Willmar; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son: Lee; two grandsons; and infant twin brothers.
