PAYNESVILLE -- James G. Mehr, 24, of Paynesville died Friday at his home.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville. Burial will be in the parish cemetery with military honors provided by the Paynesville American Legion Post 271.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville, with parish prayers at 7:30 p.m., and will continue from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.

He was born April 19, 1982, in Glencoe to Gerald and Mary (Faber) Mehr. He was a a 2000 graduate of Paynesville High School and a student at Moorhead State University, where he was captain of the Moorhead Dragons rugby team He was a sergeant in the United States Army Reserve and a veteran of the Iraq War. He was a member of St. Louis Parish, the Catholic Aid Association and the Paynesville American Legion Post 271.
He is survived by his parents; brothers and sisters: LeeAnn (and Jeff) Evans of Iron River, Wis., Ron (and Cathy Blair) of Hawick, Brenda (and Joe) Weiss of Maple Grove, Kevin and Greg, both of Paynesville; grandmother: Maria Faber of Paynesville; and grandfather: John M. Mehr of Roscoe.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Cleopha Mehr and Herman Faber.
