BELGRADE -- James Joseph Bechthold, 76, of Belgrade died Monday at his home.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in rural Spicer. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade and for one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
He was born on June 11, 1931, in Presho, S.D. to Fred and Cecelia (Kotz) Bechthold. He attended a country grade school and graduated from eighth grade. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1952, during the Korean War. He returned to the Belgrade area in 1954.

He married Ethel Williamette on June 8, 1963, in Minneapolis. They lived in the Burbank Township in rural Kandiyohi County. He farmed.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church. He was on the Burbank Township Board. He was also a member of the West Central Mutual Insurance of Grove City Board of Directors, New London American Legion Robert Ihlang Post 537, and a life-member of the Belgrade VFW Daboe-Levorson Post 1825.
He is survived by his wife; children: Therese (and Ken) Graner of Lanesboro, Judy (and Tony) Adkins of Cary, N.C., and Doug Bechthold of Belgrade; five grandchildren; and a brother: Lyle Bechthold of Woodbury.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
