PRINSBURG -- Janet Elaine Marcus, 59, of Prinsburg died Friday at the Fairview Riverside Medical Center in Minneapolis following an extended illness.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg. Interment will be at Holland Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Tri-County Funeral Home in Prinsburg, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

She was born June 4, 1947, in Willmar to Mark and Bertha (Sankey) Tazelaar. She graduated from Raymond High School in 1965. She attended the Willmar Community College for secretarial training. From 1967 to 1972, she lived in the Twin Cities and worked as a secretary for an executive at the Woolworth Corporation.

She married Lowell Dean Marcus in August of 1973. They lived and farmed just west of Prinsburg for 10 years. She later was employed by the Renvilla Nursing Home in Renville for 18 years and by Rice Care Center in Willmar for two years until her retirement due to ill health.

She was a longtime member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg. She participated in Bible studies and church circles.

She is survived by her husband; three children: Tessa (and Lance) Erickson of Renville, Jeremy (and Lynn) Marcus of Renville and Jodi Marcus of Willmar (and John Marquardt of Belgrade); six grandchildren; three brothers: Wally (and Areta) Tazelaar of Rosemount, Don (and Jean) Tazelaar of Buffalo and Mark (and Marletta) Tazelaar of Rockford; three sisters: Doris (and Donald) Roelofs of Renville, Ruth Ann (and Dennis) Bredeson of Pennock and Charles (and Betty) Schwitters of Clara City.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
