LITCHFIELD -- Jean Marie Pierce, 64, of Litchfield died Friday at Meeker County Memorial Hospital.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home. Burial will be in Eagle Lake Cemetery north of Willmar.
She was born Aug. 24, 1943, to Emmanuel and Marie (Vonderheide) Hemmingson in Omaha, Neb. She grew up in Omaha and graduated from Holy Name High School in 1961. She married David Pierce on July 15, 1961, in Omaha. They moved to Grove City in 1962 and moved to Litchfield in 1966. They lived in Olivia from 1972 until 1974, and then moved back to Litchfield.

She worked as a bookkeeper for Pierce Agency from 1980 until 2001. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Litchfield and attended the Church of Christ in Nevis, where they spent much time at their cabin. She served on the board of directors for the Meeker County Community Homes and volunteered with Hospice, Meals on Wheels and the hospital gift shop. She was a member of the Nevis Snowmobile Club.
She is survived by her husband; children: Gary (and Laurie) Pierce, Kathy (and Dan) Lotzer and Michael Pierce (and special friend Coleen Reinke), all of Litchfield; four grandchildren; brothers: Bob (and Roberta) Hemmingson and Tom (and Barb) Hemmingson, both of Omaha, Neb.; sisters: Carol (and Bruce) Rosenbaum and Ruth (and Gary) Blum, both of Walnut, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
