SACRED HEART -- Joan Alice "Jo" Skalbeck, 73, of Sacred Heart died Tuesday at the Granite Falls Hospital.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the church and for one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service in Sacred Heart.
She was born Sept. 12, 1934, in Granite Falls to Hiram and Alice (Lampman) Peterson. She attended school and graduated from Granite Falls High School. She worked in Minneapolis for a short time and then she worked as a secretary for the Montevideo Chamber of Commerce. Then she worked for Yellow Medicine County Social Services in Granite Falls.

She married Robert Skalbeck on March 8, 1959, in Granite Falls. She worked as a secretary at the Sacred Heart Telephone Company. She also worked at the meal site in Sacred Heart for several years.
She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart.
She is survived by her husband; her children: Kathy Cowan of Clara City, Scott (and Vickie) Skalbeck of Sacred Heart, Nancy Skalbeck (and special friend Darwin Asmus) of Willmar, and Kelly Skalbeck of Sacred Heart; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother: Larry (and Pam) Peterson of Mound; and sisters: Sharon (and Dick) Anderson of Hazel Run and Linda (and Tom) Bukowski of Granite Falls.
