DAWSON -- Joel Morris Winge, 97, of Dawson died Wednesday at the Appleton Municipal Hospital in Appleton.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lac qui Parle Lutheran Church in rural Dawson. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the Hanson and Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
He was born Nov. 24, 1907, in Cerro Gordo Township, Lac qui Parle County, to Henry and Emelie (Smaagaard) Winge.

He married Phyllis Norgaarden on July 5, 1943, in Dawson. They lived and farmed on the Winge family farm until 1983, when they moved into Dawson. He worked on the farm until he was 85. He entered the Appleton Nursing Home in 1998.
He was a member of Lac qui Parle Lutheran Church. He helped organize and served on the board of the Farmers Mutual Telephone Company.
He is survived by his children: Mary (and Bjorn) Froiland of Bemidji, David of Dawson; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1997; five brothers and three sisters.
