CLARA CITY -- John Cecil Speiser, 56, of Clara City died Wednesday at the Bethel Care Center in St. Paul following an extended illness.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the St. Clara Catholic Church in Clara City. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, with a vigil service at 5 p.m., at the church and one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with the Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Clara City.
He was born Dec. 4, 1951, to Theodore and Cecilia (Rhode) Speiser in Montevideo. He attended St. Clara Catholic School until eighth grade and then graduated from Maynard High School. He went to a vocational-technical school for two years. He served in the Minnesota National Guard.
He married Dawn Sietsema on Sept. 22, 1979. He was employed by the Harguth Brothers, Farmers Co-op and Condon Circle Steel and Condon Farms.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus where he was on the church maintenance committee.
He is survived by his wife; children: Amanda Speiser, Nathan (and fiancée, Kaitlyn McLagan), Amy Speiser and Nicole Speiser; siblings: Betty Speiser, Mary Sparks, Joan Speiser, Paul, and James (and Peg), all of Clara City.
He was preceded in death by three infant brothers.
