WILLMAR -- John E. Eid, 70, of Ocala, Florida, formerly of Spicer and Willmar, died April 2 at his home.
A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First Covenant Church in Willmar.
He was born April 19, 1935, in Montevideo to Ward and Sylvia (Jacobson) Eid. He grew up in the Willmar area and graduated from Willmar High School in 1954. He attended Waldorf College in Iowa and Concordia and Moorhead State.
He married Cheryl Olson in 1954. He worked at Eid's Refrigeration in Willmar and Fargo, N.D., and also sold refrigeration for other companies. He worked as a probation officer for Kandiyohi County for 20 years. He worked in landscaping and helped his sons with their nurseries.

He married Pearla Olson in 1977. They moved to Ocala, Fla., in 1997.
He was a member of Silver Springs Shores Christian Church in Florida and served as an elder and missions chairman.
He is survived by his wife; children: Susan Johnson of Elk River, Steve (and Deb) Eid of Elk River, Mike (and Amy) Eid of Becker, Paul (and Linda) Eid of Clear Lake, Tim (and Jenny) Eid of Big Lake; six stepchildren: Cheri (and Dwane) Gustafson of Atwater, Jeff (and Cindi) Olson of Blaine, Ginny (and Steve) Saint of Ocala, Fla., Steve (and Pam) Olson of Willmar, Kathy (and Steve) Buer of Willmar, Tom (and Judy ) Olson of Allen, Texas; 59 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his sister: Marilyn Thompson of Redwood Falls.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren and one sister.
