WILLMAR -- John Edward Pederson, 75, of Willmar died Tuesday at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar. Burial will be at Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery in Willmar. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 167 and V.F.W. Post 1639, both of Willmar.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

He was born May 20, 1930, in Willmar to Marcus and Osithia (Roering) Pederson. He grew up near Eagle Lake and graduated from Willmar High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1954, and was stationed in England during the Korean Conflict.

He married Arlene Shelstad on Dec. 19, 1952, in England. They moved to Willmar in 1954. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Minnesota Department of Transportation for over 37 years. He retired in 1990.

He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife; children: Cynthia (and Kerry) Bacon of Baxter, John (and Connie) Pederson of Annandale, Patricia (and Mark) Johnson of Spicer; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister: Dorothy Taylor of Lincoln, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
