BENSON -- John Edwin Schliep, 75, of Clontarf died Saturday morning at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Benson. Burial will be in the Benson City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church and one hour before the service at the church. Jacobson-Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson is in charge of arrangements.

He was born Oct. 11, 1930, in Fairfield Township, Swift County, to Christ and Augusta (Thielke) Schliep. He grew up in Clontarf and attended school in District 25. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. in the Korean War and was discharged in 1960.

On Dec. 13, 1968, he married Pearl Irene Logan in Danvers. He was a carpenter.

He is survived by his wife; a stepdaughter, Barb (and Ron) Larson of Benson; six step-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; one brother, Melvin (and Ruth) Schliep of Hopkins; six sisters, Lucille Reuss of Benson, Evelyn Oglesby of Appleton, Phyllis Harstad of Clontarf, Marcella (and Frank) Razink of Clontarf, Gladys (and Michael) Ascheman of Lonsdale and Helen Klucas of Benson.

He was preceded in death by four brothers; one stepdaughter, Jacqueline Young; and one step-grandson.
