MONTEVIDEO -- Joseph Vernon Huntley, 47, formerly of Montevideo, died Sept. 11 in Kelso, Wash., as a result of a train accident.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Montevideo. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

He was born July 5, 1958, in Morris to Vernon and Iris (Weingarth) Huntley. He attended school in Starbuck, Montevideo and graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1976. He served in the National Guard in Montevideo before enlisting in the Regular Army, where he served as a rough terrain forklift and loader operator. He was honorably discharged in 1977.

He married Barbra Nicholson. They were divorced a few years later.

He is survived by his sons: Jason (and Michelle) Huntley, David Huntley, all of Coon Rapids; three grandchildren; and siblings: Bonnie (and Wayne) Sanderson of Siren, Wis., Gary (and Barb) Huntley of Montevideo, Cindy Staab (and Kathy Conrad) of Minneapolis, Pam Fagen (and Jim Dohrer) of St. Cloud, Pat (and Jeff) Moot of Plymouth, Harriet Huntley (and Rita Lichtblau) of Delano, Rosanne (and Dan) Helle of Montevideo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his stepfather: Wilfred Miltz.
