WILLMAR -- Joyce Anne Clare, 81, of Willmar died Tuesday at the Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Willmar. Burial will be at Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery in Willmar.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church. Memorials are preferred to Rice Hospice, 301 Becker Ave. S.W., Willmar, MN 56201. Arrangements are by Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.

She was born July 14, 1927, in Raymond to Garret and Jennie (Hesseling) Vlaar. She spent her early childhood years in the Raymond area. She graduated in 1945 from Willmar High School. She worked as a bookkeeper at Perkins Lumber Company for a few years.

In 1952, she married William Henry "Bill" Clare Jr., and they lived in Spicer. She was the bookkeeper for Hope Presbyterian Church in Spicer. Later she was a bookkeeper for Hogan's Fabrics and then at Clare Paint and Glass Company, owned and operated by her husband.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Willmar and the Ladies Circle. She served on the deacon board and had been on the budget committee. She volunteered at Rice Memorial Hospital and at the Senior Center.

She is survived by a son: William H. III (and Denise) Clare of Crystal; two daughters: Susan (and Loren) Fix of Elk River and Judith Clare of Sauk Rapids; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991, a brother and a sister.
