MANKATO -- Julian F. Nowacki, 88, of Mankato, formerly of Willmar, died Wednesday at the Mapleton Community Home.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato. Burial will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Mankato Mortuary in Mankato, with a prayer service at 2 p.m., and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
He was born Feb. 23, 1918, in rural Argyle to Michael and Mary (Grembowski) Nowacki. He left the farm to work in a CC camp when he was 16. He worked at Two Rivers farm in 1938.

He married Iona Bublitz on Sept. 16, 1940, in Hallock. They purchased the Bublitz farm near Lancaster and farmed for 10 years. They sold the farm and moved to North Mankato. He worked for Home Gas Company in Mankato in 1952 and was transferred to Willmar in 1963. He worked for Home Gas Company, later Texgas, in Willmar until 1983, when he retired. They lived in Willmar until 1996, when they returned to Manktao.
He is survived by his children: Ken (and Terry) Nowacki of Mankato, Diane (and John) Schimek of Easton, Rosemary (and Jim) Gardner of Winfield, Kan., Donald (and Germaine) Nowacki of Mankato, Edward (and Gloria) Nowacki of Spicer, John Nowacki of Waseca; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two siblings: Alice Ekman of Denver, Colo., and Tony Nowacki of El Paso, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife; three grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters.
